A few hours, two old recordings, voiced over, and then a song.

Laziness being what it always is for the idle, there is a project called Esope Reste Ici Et Repose 05 that I was invited to by the curator Cedrick Eymenier, to be held at Le Bon Accueil, Lieu d'Art Contemporain in Rennes, France from 13 October 2011 to 11 December 2011.  The idea is to choose a fable of Aesop and interpret it through music, with the one requirement being that there are vocals involved.  Of course, I knew of this a few months ago, but I took my usual sweet time in doing much about it- although it is true that within a day or two of accepting, I did do a small recording inside the fabled Steinway Hall (New York), but the dust had been gathering on that for months now.

About two weeks ago, when I found myself at Shakespeare and Company (Paris), there was a pleasant sounding piano which I played not only for fun- as I try to play every piano in public that I can put my hands on- but in the back of my mind, I thought I would use it for the exhibition as well and recorded the "performance".

Well, of course, with the deadline looming (late September),  circumstances brought me to push myself into work mode this very morning, and a few hours of focused effort later, I am able to announce its "triumphant" completion.  As for whether the music is any good or not, I cannot say just yet as I must allow it time to breathe on its own.  What I will say is that of all the types of creative work that I engage in, music is always the most mysterious- for I know not from where it comes, nor where it goes, but I am active in guiding it along however it may lead me.

For those able to attend and interested in hearing this composition (written under the creative name "Masumi Raymond"), more information can be found at www.bon-accueil.org
