Being away from the computer for so long is mostly a good thing, as it gives one a good deal of time to breathe. As for the thinking part, there is very little of that, as one becomes so much a part of one's everyday adventures (however small) and one is just "living" and "being"- essentially, the most desirable state to be in.
So, with the accumulation of images (perhaps numbering near two thousand), there are of course a multitude of things that may be possible to look back and remark on with pleasure. Now, the reader will know that here on this idle blog, there is very little mention of things to do with eating and drinking in general because it all seems so unnecessary. Nonetheless, an interest in places which have atmosphere and an equal enthusiasm for authentic things often brings me to environments that would usually escape my patronage.
Case in point which was referenced in the earlier issue of a men's style magazine which featured a certain celebrity (one of the few) who I fancy. Well, the photographic essay was held in the traditional pies and mash shop "F. Cooke" in Hoxton, London, and I jotted it down as a place I should look into. Fortunately, it turns out that it is not only a stylish place, but the food and drink is wonderful as well- an example of the Great Britain of the past, not the gastronomical heaven that it is or hopes that it could become (and, which, not being and never wanting to be a "foodie," I have no interest in).
I will have to thank my old friend and classmate E. from my time in London for driving me there, but also for having the appetite to order their scrumptious cherry pie (which came with vanilla ice cream).
