The Spell of Days

You must pardon my having neglected this lonely old blog for quite a bit of time now, as I have been positively swarmed with prior commitments, and even had the opportunity of participating in a beyond splendid, absolutely amazing experience of being part of a writing workshop (more on that later), and with the many things that are going on in my life now (of the good variety, for once), I am just popping in to say hello and to ask that you please do not forget your old pal.

My thought now before I leave, freely borrowed from some correspondence this morning:

The spell is unbroken.

Nothingness into which I walk

April Flowers bring May Flowers and all that, but it is now June, the beginning of a new month, a new time.  It is all very interesting, I find, not that I really follow the ups and downs of time and what that means, but to mark off a date that may be insignificant to others can bear the deepest significance on myself.  With many thoughts both specific and general, random and most determinedly directed, I offer up the following calligraphy of the character Mu that was done by an elementary school child- which I saw displayed at the japanese bookstore here in town when I went snooping around for amusement, inspiration and who knows what.  Of course, Mu ("nothingness") with its echoes of Ozu Yasujiro is not really nothing, but everything.

And so I walk into this month with a smile and a tear.
